(css) font-family: monospace;

  2.0.5-rc1 とは直接の関係はありませんが、最近いろいろなところ
(例えば namazu 検索結果の HTML 形式とか 
http://www.namazu.org/doc/manual.html など)で、
<style type="text/css"> の中に
font-family: monospace; 
  と書いてあるのを見ます。これに関連して、次の僕の観察は合って
いるでしょうか。

とりあえず、閲覧系としては 
Netscape 4.7  (MacOS 9)
Netscape 4.5  (MacOS 8.5)
Netscape 4.75 (WinNT)
に限るとします。

(1)
最近は、HTML 形式に
<meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html; charset=iso-2022-jp">
などと書いてあるのが多いので、(僕は) 
View -> Character Set は Western (ISO-8859-1) にしている

(2) 
そういう場合でも、一部で問題があるので、一度次のように
View -> Character Set -> Japanese Auto Detect
View -> Character Set -> Set Default Character Set
として、Default は Japanese Auto Detect としている。
(これは何か変な気がしますが、僕の場合、必要です)

(3) 
Edit -> Preference -> Appearance -> Font の中の
  Use my default fonts, overriding document-specified fonts
  Use document-specified fonts, but disable Dynamic Fonts
・Use document-specified fonts, including Dynamic Fonts
は 最後のものを選んでおきます。

(4)
書体そのものはいくつか試しますが、例えば二つとも Japanese -> MS ゴシック
や Osaka などとします。

この時に、標題の monospace は化けてしまって読めない
